GREEN BAY, WI, April 29, 2008 — At the invitation of Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton, Jim Rivett, president of Arketype, a Green Bay advertising and design firm, has agreed to serve on a newly formed state task force. The Wisconsin Task Force on Arts and Creativity in Education has convened to ensure Wisconsin cultivates the creative workforce and entrepreneurial talent necessary for the state to effectively compete in a 21st century global economy.

The launch of the task force was officially announced on March 28 at a press conference at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Lawton co-chairs the group, along with State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster.

Rivett joins other task-force members from a broad cross-section of the business, arts, and education communities.

"Creativity can transcend all disciplines and should be a driving force that infuses the state's economy," said Rivett. "I am honored to have an opportunity to join in the statewide dialogue on the importance of arts, technology, and entertainment as viable resources for a stronger Wisconsin future."

Among its responsibilities, the task force will examine state-level policies and local practices to determine their impact on the scope of, and access to quality arts education opportunities in Wisconsin. The group will also recommend new initiatives to support arts education, creativity, and innovation.
