The feature-length documentary film Westbound has been selected for inclusion in two key festivals this spring. The classic American story produced by Arketype will be shown at the Ozark Foothills FilmFest held March 23-27 in Batesville, Arkansas, and at the Wisconsin Film Festival, March 30 to April 3.
Westbound explores the life of folk artist Adolph Vandertie, dubbed the Grand Duke of the Hobos. It details his journey from addiction to personal redemption and his lifetime obsession with whittling and preserving hobo and tramp art.
“It means a lot to us to have our film chosen by our home state program, the Wisconsin Film Festival,” said Jim Rivett, Westbound director and Arketype president. “The Ozark Foothills Filmfest is another storied festival in a unique community and a great fit for this film.”
In its 13th year, the Wisconsin Film Festival is perhaps the largest campus-based film festival in the United States. The festival is presented by the University of Wisconsin—Madison Arts Institute with the assistance of the UW Department of Communication Arts. Information can be found at www.wifilmfest.org.
March marks the 10th Annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest. Information is online at www.ozarkfoothillsfilmfest.org.
