In a collaborative effort to benefit Freedom House and increase awareness of the challenges facing today's homeless families, Arketype has joined forces with singer Ruby Amanfu in producing a new music video. The video will premiere Saturday, October 29 at Freedom House Ministries' 8th annual Celebration of Hope in the Lambeau Field Atrium.
Amanfu is a familiar musical personality to Green Bay audiences having performed at the Meyer Theatre as part of the well-established pop folk duo, Sam & Ruby. She is becoming known nationwide as the lead singer of The Collective, a dynamic a cappella group wowing audiences and judges on season two of NBC's "The Sing Off."
Amanfu wrote the song "See Me" especially for the upcoming fundraising event. In it, she adopts the persona of a homeless person to speak of the stigma with which the homeless often live.
"I saw this project as an opportunity to give a voice to those who've been marginalized by status," said Amanfu. "Freedom House is all about offering hope and I wanted to contribute to that mission. This was the best way I knew how."
The formal fundraising event will take place in the Lambeau Field Atrium from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The night's program also includes speakers Sheena Holewinski, a 2010 Freedom House "graduate," Ali Draheim, principal of Jefferson Elementary School and program coordinator of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Program, and Robyn Davis, Freedom House president.
Individual tickets to Celebration of Hope are $75. Reservations for tables of eight can be made at various table sponsorship levels. For ticket information, call (920) 432-4646, ext. 105, or e-mail.
