On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Green Bay advertising firm Arketype kicks off a communitywide campaign to collect children’s books on the topics of respect, tolerance, diversity and anti-bullying.
The book drive begins at 10 a.m. at the Weidner Center on Monday, January 17 where Arketype will spend the day creating an educational video with an anti-bullying message. Individuals are encouraged to drop off books at the theatre until 5 p.m. that day. Volunteers who wish to appear in the video are also encouraged to bring along books to be donated to area grade-school libraries.
“By having books gifted to school libraries we have the opportunity to raise the level of awareness on the many aspects of respect, diversity and anti-bullying,” said Jim Rivett, Arketype president. “The donated books help extend that reach within schools at no extra cost to taxpayers.”
The children’s book drive will continue at Arketype’s headquarters through January 31. Books may be dropped off at the firm’s offices at 612 Stuart Street on the corner of Monroe Avenue, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Volunteer support for the Jan. 17 video production in the way of on-camera speaking or non-speaking roles, in-kind gifts, and financial donations are still welcome. To volunteer services, talents or dollars, contact Bobbie Fredericks at 920-437-3700.
The educational video is being produced by Arketype to help promote understanding and prevent the negative consequences of bullying.
